It has been kind of a zoo this week. I’ve decided that’s my real job in 2012—a zoo keeper. An unpaid zookeeper. No complaints. It’s definitely not boring, it’s a fantastic work out keeping up with the four (mentally and physically, even spiritually!). 2012 has not started off slow.
So I feel like I left the last post with a giant cliffhanger—Florida. Why? At what point was this a good idea? Well, Young Life has a big conference every four years in Orlando. Its the All Staff Conference and wives get to go also. Its awesome. Four years ago, in 2008 we were there with a seven week old Sam. Crazy. At any rate, it’s always in January every four years so we had been planning and preparing on how to take the family. Now, bear in mind this is before we knew about the twins. Jon and my airfare are comped so we just had Sam and Alice to foot the bill for. We solicited grandparents help. “Would you wanna get out of the NW in January ‘12 and go to hopefully sunny Florida and hang with our kids?” Of course! Grandparents in. Now, a place to stay… My mom has an RCI timeshare so we were able to trade for a condo in Florida. Three bedrooms, kitchen, laundry, pool, swingset. Bomb. We’re golden. Then we found out about the twins. Well, they obviously need to come what with breast-feeding and all that. So now we are two crazy (with help of course) people flying our wee ones across the country for a little “fun” in the sun. I put “fun” in quotes because I hope it is fun. Again, might me just more blog fodder.
And what’s really crazy is we have it for THREE WEEKS! Yes, that’s a long time. But we sort of knew this was the last trip we would take like this for awhile. Probably last trip forever really. Jon’s piling up his vaca and then one week of it is work for the conference. Yes, we are going to do Disneyworld. Its gonna be a zoo. I tell ya, zoo-keeper.
