Surviving the Tidal Wave of 2011

We are not trying to be narcissistic at all by assuming you want to know what’s going on in our life, but for those who do want to know, we thought this would be the easiest way to communicate the insanity of this year for us. Here’s the brief:

We are expecting twins. Due date is October 9, however I am on bedrest at the hospital just trying to get as close to that date as possible. I was admitted to St. Charles in Bend July 8.

Meanwhile at home we have Sam (3) and Alice (1). Because I had to surrender my mommy job with those two to take care of the two kids I have a-comin’, Jon and my mom “Tutu” are running the day care at home.

Except we don’t really have a home. We are in job/home transition also. Jon took a new Young Life Area Director job in Lake Oswego. He started July 15 (ha!). He is slowly, very slowly, beginning to acclimate to his new responsibilities there while tying up things in Sisters.

Of course new job means the dreaded word: moving. While trying to maintain some sort of routine for our kids while I am in the hospital incubating the other kids, we are trying to sell our home of 8 years in Sisters, find a new place to live in Lake Oswego, and of course move our 10-years of “stuff” over the mountain. Packing, sorting, boxing, selling, craigslisting, etc.

Our 10 year anniversary is October 19. Man, we hope we make it. It’s been a busy decade, but 2011 takes the cake. Mmmm…cake…
